Thank you all for your time and energy this evening. It is a busy and hectic time for everyone: finals, end of the year, ceremonies and of course preparing for the trip. Just wanted to reiterate that much of what I packed, and is on the "packing list", isn't essential. My theory is: If it is an item that will make your child feel safer and more comfortable (not "wanted" comfortable but secure/prepared comfortable) then your child is the best filter when purchasing items. Ms. Hall and I will be bringing extra of everything so pack light. You do not need to buy brand new "everything" even though the students have, most likely, already found this opening to get some brand new, cool stuff. Start with the necessities, the smaller stuff. Clothing, new gear and other larger items are less important as they can use what they have and/or buy items much cheaper there.
Also: to follow up on a question asked this evening:
Hit the Army Surplus Store first. They have 80% of the items and gear at a very low price.
Also: as mentioned by several parents, check out/compare with REI as they are apparently having a large sale this weekend.
Finally, make sure I get your homework done by next Thursday:
1.) All relevant forms: the medical form is only if you want us to hold/distribute meds.
2.) Bring a neck wallet to Thursday's meeting at 3:15
3.) Memorize your passport number
4.) Sit down and go over a budget, smart purchasing and advocacy/communication.
